After a failed teenage marriage, which produced a son (actor, director and producer Andrew Stevens) Stella moved, over parents’ objections, to Hollywood, where she embarked on a movie career. They, along with her hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, practically disowned her when she did the Playboy layout.
