Joan Dowling (1928 – 1954)

Joan Dowling: English actress; born 6 January 1928, Chertsey England; died: 31 March 1954, London, United Kingdom; suicide by gas poisoning.

Dowling began acting professionally on stage at age 14 and appeared in British films and television between 1949 and her death in 1954. Her most notable film was her first: Hue and Cry (1947) about a group of children tackling a criminal gang set among the war ruins in postwar London.
