Barbara Colby: American actress, born 2 July 1939, New York; died 24 July 1975, age 36, Venice California; murder – random shooting.
Colby began her acting career in off-Broadway, then Brodway theatre shows. TV and film appearances began in 1969, though she continued to act in theatre. She is best remembered for two episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore show as Sherry Ferris, a call-girl who shares a cell with Moore.
In 1975, Colby and her boyfriend were shot dead while walking in the Venice Beach area of Los Angeles in a random act of violence.
