Joyce Jameson (pictured left, with Peter Lorre and Vincent Price for Tales of Terror (1962): American actress on screen 1954 – 1984, born 26 September 1932, Chicago Illinois; died 16 January 1987, 54 years of age, Burbank California; suicide ~ overdose of sleeping pills.
Jameson started her performing career in Los Angeles live revues created by then husband Billy Barnes (1927 – 2012 – Barnes would later marry his long-time partner Richard T. Jordan in a same-sex ceremonhy in 2010). She acted profilically in television and film, frustratingly for a UCLA graduate, often in “dumb blonde” roles. Although her final IMDB credit is 1984, Jameson was still performing in theatre in Los Angeles in 1985.
According to the autobiography of long-time boyfriend Robet Vaughn (1932 – 2016), Jameson suffered depression.
I always associate Joyce with a few episodes from The Andy Griffith Show as one of ‘the fun girls” who is chasing Don Knotts. Nice to see you remembering her.
Me too, they were some of the most hilarious episodes of the Andy show.
