Patricia Viterbo: French actress born 21 March 1939 (or 1943), France; died 10 November 1966, age 27, Paris France; drowned in the Seine River following an accident while filming.

10 November 1966 Paris. A French movie actress accidentally backed her car into the Seine and drowned today during the filming of a spy movie. As she got ready for the scene, she remarked to her costar, “I can’t swim.” Those were her last words. The actress, Patricia Viterbo, 23, backed her car into the river near the Eiffel Tower during shooting of the Pierre Zimmer film, “Le Judoka Agent Secret” (judo expert, secret agent). Co-star Henri Garcin, 38, was in the sports car with her and managed to escape. He was hospitalized but his condition was described as not serious. Miss Viterbo was seen frantically trying to open the car door. Divers reached the car and pulled her free. Mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and heart massage failed. Miss Viterbo, a tall, striking blonde and a former Dior fashion model, had played in a score of films. Garcin, interviewed at the hospital, said the accident was “entirely a mistake.” The scene was to have been that of two lovers taking an uneventful drive along the Seine.
