Pina Pellicer (1934 – 1964)

Pina Pellicer: Mexican actress born Josefina Yolanda Pellicer López de Llergo, 3 April 1934, Mexico City Mexico; died 4 December 1964, age 30, Mexico City Mexico; suicide by overdose of sleeping pills.

Pina was the daughter of an influential Mexican lawyer with a large artistic family. Her younger sister Pilar became a famouse television and film actress. After graduating from university, Pina became a leading theatre actress in Mexico City, before being cast in the Hollywood film One-Eyed Jacks (filmed 1958, released 1961).

Struggling with her sexuality in a Roman Catholic country, she ended her life after making the Mexican film El Pecador (aka The Sinner 1965)
